Our Mission Statement

Nawa Sport aims to increase understanding and communication about HIV/AIDS, break down stereotypes and stigma associated with HIV/AIDS, develop awareness of risky behaviours associated with HIV/AIDS, provide opportunity to develop life skills related to HIV/AIDS, empower young people to make informed decisions related to HIV/AIDS and educate young people about HIV prevention techniques, including abstinence, faithfulness and condoms.

Executive Summary

Nawa Sport is a health programme featuring a series of interactive activities that help young people explore issues relating to HIV/AIDS and gain necessary skills to stay healthy. These skills include critical thinking, communication, self esteem, and decision making. While Nawa Sport has similar goals as other life skills training, it is completely different in its approach as it is taught through the medium of a sport-soccer. This programme has been inspired by the work of Grassroot Soccer, an international organization that educates young people on HIV/AIDS through sports.
