Our Mission Statement

Esperance encourages co-ed football and thus gender equality, teaches children to take responsibility for their own actions, provides conflict resolution training, fights the ethnic divide of the Rwandan population, promotes a culture of peace among the youths, domestically as well as in neighboring countries, and teaches AIDS awareness and prevention.

Executive Summary

Espérance uses football as a tool to promote peace and gender equality. The “Football pour la Paix” (Football for Peace) project was launched in 2001 to teach youths about conflict resolution and transformation, as well as AIDS awareness and prevention. “Football pour la Paix” has been implemented not only throughout Rwanda but also in other Central African countries, such as Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania and DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo).
