Western Cape Street Soccer League
A Request for Goods

50 Sets of goalsposts suitable for 4 a side street football

We use football as a means to further our core social objectives, which is the mobilization, organisation and reintegration of street people into back mainstream society.

The League provides a structured 4 a- side football programme for Street Children/Children at Risk through structured and high quality training/coaching that involves football skills, fitness, safe preparation and training techniques, healthy living and diet advice. Players will also participate in regular matches /competitions involving all teams registered in the league.

The reason for using the 4 a –side format is because it lends itself perfectly to the overall social objectives of the WCSSL.

Unlike the normal 11 a side game, 4 a side football is accessible, easy to organize and does not require a large surface area to play on. The average dimensions of a 4 a side pitch is 22 meters by 18 meters and this means that we can use any suitable tarred or paved surface. At a local level we have used netball courts, car parks, open tarred or paved spaces between blocks of flats to play on. We can even use a ordinary street if it is wide enough. All that is needed in the form of equipment are goalposts and balls.

We have already identified suitable surfaces and playing areas in all of our districts and we hope to provide each of the districts with a set of equipment that allows them to play in local communities.

Our overall vision is to establish affiliates of the Western Cape Street Soccer League in each community of the province- particularly in those communities that research has shown are strong communities of origin and host communities. In order to meet such an objective requires a lot of resources.

Our immediate goal is provide each participating community with a set of goalposts and footballs. This will enable the League to have an organized football presence in each of these areas.
